Ogival traces its roots back to 1903 when it was founded by the Brandt and Dubois families in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Known for experimental mechanical watches, their product range expanded as demand grew over time.
Coming from a Swiss-French background with an elegant romanticism, and influenced by the vibrant culture of South America, the family chose the fish as their trademark. In South American culture, fish symbolizes luck and love. They hoped every Ogival wristwatch would bring eternal love to its wearer.
Handcrafted watchmaking remains the heart of Swiss watches. In La Chaux-de-Fonds, where the Brandt and Dubois families began, workshops were often cramped. To cope, they rented attics as workshops, giving rise to "attic watchmaking." This era saw the invention of many complex watch functions. Today, while most artisans have moved to modern facilities, some brands offer "attic artisan bespoke services" to honor the tradition of handmade craftsmanship.
"Official Registration"
In 1929, with Ogival's business expanding to the Americas and Asia, Mr. Rene Brandt officially registered the "Ogival" watch company in Switzerland, marking the beginning of this brand with a century-old watchmaking tradition.
To this day, we continue to uphold the consistent Swiss attic watchmaking spirit of Mr. Rene Brandt, crafting Ogival wristwatches that symbolize luck and love for every customer!
